REVIEWS AND TESTIMONIALS
My family has had the privilege of working with Ashley for the past four years (since my son was two). After being diagnosed with ASD, we began to work with Ashley. He was completely non-verbal at the time. Within a year, he began to speak, and today he is considered verbal. He is now six years old and matriculated into a typical classroom. I credit this to Ashley. She is without a doubt the most capable speech and language therapist I have come across. Her instincts are truly unparalleled, which is something that simply cannot be taught. Not only did Ashley give my son the gift of language, but she has helped to shape his behavior, giving him the tools he needs to function happily in this world. I trust Ashley completely. She has been with us every step of the way on this journey. I always turn to her when looking for guidance when it comes to my son’s development. She is the most caring, thoughtful, and competent therapist I have or will ever meet. There are no words to express how grateful we are to have found her.

We’ve known Ashley many years, enlisting her speech services for our son. Our son’s disability is Autism. Ashley is a pleasure to work with, is very responsive, and collaborates with us to provide our son with the skills and support he needs. Areas we target are speech and language, as well as functional, social, and daily living skills. She customizes sessions to meet the specific needs of our son, and addresses any areas of concern that we have for him. Our son really enjoys working with Ashley. She is very personable, patient, and develops fun and engaging sessions. We’ve not only had private speech sessions with her, but have also had her help with reviewing and developing our son’s IEP (Individualized Education Plan) at school. She has attended PPT (Planning and Placement Team) meetings with us, and has provided strategies for the school setting, in addition to providing strategies for us at home. We highly recommend Ashley, for individuals and families looking for an elite speech pathologist, who keeps her clients’ best interests and success as the focus of her work.

My son has made more progress working with Ashley from FUNctional than during any other period in his development. She is an amazing therapist that has taught me to be a better support for my children all while working on their independence.

My son has received speech therapy with Ashley for close to a decade now. He had minimal speech in the beginning. Thankfully, she has successfully expanded his sentences using a variety of comprehensive methods that are fun enough to keep him engaged and motivated to speak. She thoughtfully crafts his lessons to include inferences, problem solving, improved cognition, flexible thinking, pragmatics, recall, retell, reporting to others, cause and effect, etc. Ashley also has an innate understanding of my son’s sensory disorder and assists him accordingly. She has been my teacher as well, and she has taught me helpful, everyday practices to use at home, which have furthered my son’s speech ability. She is more than a therapist to us now. She is a valued advisor and is invested in my son’s outcome!

I had been afforded the opportunity to work with Ashley for speech and language therapy for a young child that I provided applied behavioral analysis services for. During this time, our collaborations and therapy sessions were conducted via tele-therapy. While not an easy task, Ashley made the transition for me to implement Speech and Language programs understandable and smooth. Her direction and training were constructive in helping me be able to provide the client with techniques that I was not familiar with. Her method of providing services was in line with the interests of the client, and she used those interests to motivate the client to stay engaged during sessions. Ashley was very open to collaboration with my team and incorporated the skills we worked on into her sessions, which proved successful with the client. I am grateful for the time I had working with Ashley and for the lessons she taught me within SLP. I hope to collaborate with her in the future and that other professionals or families have the wonderful opportunity to work with her as well. -

My son, age 10, was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder when he was about 2.5 years old. Ashley began working with him when he was in kindergarten until he was in 3rd grade (he is now in 5th grade). Prior to this, we worked with 3-4 speech therapists who all had the same strategies-sort of patterned after an ABA/speech therapy. Before Ashley worked with my son, my son’s speech was very limited. While he could label a lot of different things, a lot of his functional speech seemed to have been taught in a "memorization" way. That changed when we started working with Ashley. Two things that stood out in her process were the use of declarative language and combining it with RDI. It was difficult for us in the beginning to switch from what we had learned for 2+ years, but after watching sessions and collaborating with Ashley, our son has developed more speech; his receptive language also improved a lot. There is an understanding of the words that he uses now rather than just using tailored words that were taught to him in the past. The strategies Ashley used were done and taught in a functional way, for example, baking, cooking, etc. Our son has learned and gained so much more than speech itself. He is more independent and he has remembered all the sessions that they have done together. I recommend Ashley 100% as she was instrumental in my son’s development. Thank you, Ashley, for all that you have done and for all that you do for us special needs families.

Working with Ashley has been a breath of fresh air for me, my daughter, and my son. She is very thorough, insightful, creative, knowledgeable, and straight-forward. Being a parent of an AAC-user herself, she understands the struggles and sets realistic expectations. Sometimes I feel like our therapy sessions are for me just as much as it is for my children. She'll go at your pace and give support wherever it is needed. Her advice in the school setting, as well as at home, has been invaluable. It truly is like having another involved parent on my team. We don't talk about just speech or AAC. She's knowledgeable about sensory needs, executive functioning, behavioral training, and more. I have two kids who have IEPs, so a source like her has been priceless. She genuinely cares about our children, and I just can't ask for more from a provider.

Ashley provided weekly tele-therapy sessions for our three-year-old daughter for almost one year. Over the course of the year, Ashley was able to effectively guide our daughter and us, as parents, to overcome speech delays in both English and Spanish. Ashley consistently provided timely feedback and offered creative ideas to support speech development. In addition, Ashley kindly provided guidance on issues outside of speech, including communication, sharing of activities, and even potty training! Ashley is very knowledgeable, professional, and kind. As a parent herself, she understands the constraints parents face and offered solutions that worked for our family. We will definitely work with Ashley again!

Ashley is a fantastic speech therapist who goes above and beyond to make each session meaningful. My daughter has been working with Ashley over the past year, and we have been very impressed with the level of service she provides. She brings a high level of professionalism and creativity that makes learning sounds fun! It is clear that Ashley cares for each child's individual needs, and we are very pleased with the progress we have seen.
